Odoo hosting: the three real options

Odoo itself groups hosting into three deployment models. Here's each one, who it fits, and where OEC.sh sits. (Source: odoo.com/page/hosting-types.)

Odoo Online

Enterprise only

Who it fits
Small teams that want a browser and nothing else to think about.
Who it doesn't fit
Anyone who needs custom modules, third-party apps, or Community Edition.
Typical cost
$31.10 / user / mo (US, yearly)
Operational effort
Zero — Odoo runs and maintains it for you.

Odoo.sh (PaaS)

Enterprise only

Who it fits
Teams that want custom code but not server administration.
Who it doesn't fit
Cost-sensitive teams — you pay for the Enterprise license AND per-worker hosting.
Typical cost
$49 / user / mo (license, promo rate) + workers / storage / staging
Operational effort
Low — Odoo runs the servers, you push code via Git.
OEC.sh sits here

Self-hosted

Community or Enterprise

Who it fits
Teams that want control of the cloud choice, the data, and the price.
Who it doesn't fit
Teams that need Odoo Studio, eIDAS Sign, or the IoT box (Enterprise-only).
Typical cost
Cloud-server cost only (from ~$4-25/mo). Optional Enterprise license.
Operational effort
OEC.sh handles deployment, backups, SSL, monitoring, upgrades on your cloud.

OEC.sh is not a hosting provider. It's a deployment and management platform for the self-hosted category — your cloud account, your data, our automation on top. Compare against Odoo.sh on price, per-user billing, and cloud choice.

Common questions about Odoo hosting

What is Odoo hosting?
Odoo hosting is where the software and its database run and who keeps the servers alive. Odoo itself groups it into three options: Odoo Online (fully managed SaaS), Odoo.sh (managed PaaS), and self-hosted (your own cloud or hardware). OEC.sh sits in the third category — it deploys and manages Odoo on your own cloud account.
What is the difference between Odoo Online, Odoo.sh, and self-hosted Odoo?
Odoo Online is Odoo's SaaS — Enterprise Edition only, no custom modules, priced per user per month. Odoo.sh is Odoo's PaaS — Enterprise Edition, allows custom code, priced per user plus workers and storage. Self-hosted runs on your own infrastructure (any cloud or bare metal), supports Community or Enterprise, and its cost is your server bill plus optional Enterprise license.
How much does Odoo hosting cost?
Odoo Enterprise costs between $8.95 and $76.20 per user per month depending on the country and billing cycle (179-country pricing table). Odoo.sh adds worker and storage fees on top. Self-hosted Odoo Community costs only what you pay your cloud provider — from about $4/mo on Hetzner or DigitalOcean. OEC.sh's deployment platform starts at $0/mo (free tier) and scales to $19-199/mo for team features.
Do I need an Odoo Enterprise license to use OEC.sh?
No. OEC.sh works with both Odoo Community (free, LGPL-3) and Odoo Enterprise (paid, license from Odoo S.A.). If you use Community, you pay only your cloud bill and OEC.sh's platform fee. If you use Enterprise, add the license you already bought from Odoo.
Which cloud providers does OEC.sh support?
Eight clouds today: DigitalOcean, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Hetzner, Vultr, Linode, and OVH. You connect your own cloud account — OEC.sh provisions and manages Odoo on it, and the server bill goes straight to your provider. No cloud markup; no vendor lock-in.
Can I migrate from Odoo.sh to OEC.sh?
Yes. Odoo.sh exports a standard PostgreSQL dump plus the filestore, and OEC.sh imports both. Bring your Enterprise license if you have one, or switch to Community Edition. The Odoo.sh migration guide walks through the steps; the savings comparison shows the typical cost delta with sourced math.
Where do I find pre-built Odoo modules?
The Odoo Community Association (OCA) on GitHub maintains ~150 repositories of vetted open-source modules — accounting, HR, e-commerce, industry-specific extensions. OEC.sh installs OCA modules from your connected Git repository in one click.
